Areas of Specialism
In my teaching career so far I have greatly improved the lives of many children with learning, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. A specialist BESD/ASD teacher with certificates in NLP, CBT and Nurture Group Training, I have enjoyed a wide variety of roles in both mainstream and special education settings; including teaching, leadership, management and development positions.
This wealth of experience has led to me developing a deeper understanding of the underlying problems that surface as extreme and challenging behaviour and, with effective early intervention will enable almost every child to develop the social and emotional capability required to bring about positive outcomes in the classroom.
My most recent position was as the Head Teacher of a short stay primary school in East Lancashire – a role I thoroughly enjoyed but relinquished in order to devote more time to working more directly with children and young people who would benefit the most from my knowledge, understanding and experience. This led to me starting JWBS (Janette Wallis Behaviour Solutions).
Away from the classroom I have worked for the last 20 years with young offenders and for the last 6 years have been the Officer in charge of Accrington Junior Attendance Centre for the National Offender Management Unit. In this role I have been recognised as having one of the most successful centres in the country.
All of this has left me well placed to offer a unique and highly effective support service for children and the staff that work with/alongside them, as well as the necessary insight, advice and training for schools that ultimately proves beneficial for all parties.
What can I offer?
- Certificate in BESD

How can I help?
I have spent many years working in the education sector, where I have gained the experience and knowledge required to connect with children/young people in difficult circumstances and deliver positive results, both in mainstream and special education. My innovative and highly effective approach allows me to identify the source of the problems that manifest in the classroom and provide tailored solutions, resulting in a happier, healthier and more harmonious learning environment for children and staff alike.
Having worked exclusively with disengaged and disaffected children from all backgrounds, I am fully aware of the difficulties that not only they face, but also the problems that staff encounter in handling these matters sensitively. I pride myself in having the ability to deliver a fully inclusive support service, based on a philosophy of nurture and attachment that is designed to get children back on track whilst empowering staff to better meet the needs of children and young people in their care.
